Ziploc Bag Recipes

Ziploc Bag Recipes
Have a large pot of boiling water ready. Cut up ham, bacon, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, or whatever you would put in an omelet. Crack an egg or two open
and put them in a Ziploc FREEZER bag. Put in veggies or meats (don't overfill - experiment). Zip closed and mush together to break egg yolks. Mix well. Use a
permanent marker and write your name on the bag. Put in the boiling water. I haven't tried this myself so I am not sure how long to cook. Here again - experiment. Easy to make, clean up, and fun plus everyone gets to make their own personal flavor.

Dutch Oven Lasagna

Dutch Oven Lasagna

2 jars spaghetti sauce
1 lg. box of lasagna noodles
2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
1 16 oz cottage or ricotta cheese
1 lb. ground meat or italian sausage crumbled and cooked (optional)
1 bag charcoal
lighter fluid
Light your charcoal ahead of time so your coals will be ready. Coals must be completely white. Take both jars of spaghetti sauce and pour in a pitcher or bowl. Take one jar and fill it with water. Mix the water in with the sauce. Spread a small amount of spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a dutch oven.

(Hint: If you line your dutch oven with aluminum foil, it's a lot easier to clean after you're done).

Next take your noodles (raw) and break them in thirds. Lay them on top of the sauce making sure not to stack them on top of each other. Spread some cottage/ricotta cheese on top of the noodles. Spread more spaghetti sauce on top. Sprinkle with mozzarella
cheese.

Repeat layers until you use all the food. Place lid on top of dutch oven.
Take 20 coals and spread them out on the ground. Place dutch oven directly on top of coals.

( A dutch oven with legs on the bottom works best)

Next place 15 coals on top of the lid spread out. Cook for 30-40 minutes.

Biscuits on a stick

I love this recipe. It is so much fun to make with the young women at camp.

Biscuits on a Stick
Refrigerated biscuits (pillsbury)
Sticks or wire coat hangers (sticks work better)
Hot coals

Take the biscuit and flatten it and roll out like a long snake. Wind biscuit around a stick. Cook over hot coals making sure to turn so that one side does not get more done than the other.

For a variation, you can dip the biscuits in melted butter after cooking and roll in cinnamon sugar.

Foil Dinners

Perfect recipe for camp!

Foil Dinners
Your choice of meat (hamburger and chicken work the best)
carrots
potatoes
onions
green bell peppers (optional)
zucchini (optional)
seasonings
Take a large piece of aluminum foil and place your meat on top with veggies on top. Season. Take another large piece of aluminum foil and place on top. Roll and seal all sides of both pieces of aluminum foil together. Place dinner on hot coals (make sure there is NO flame and just hot white coals). Cook for about 20-30 minutes depending on how much meat and veggies you have in your dinner. You can also turn the foil packet about 1/2 way through cooking to make sure the bottom doesn't burn.

Candy Shop Pizza

We made this at Mutual. I had a team of girls spreading the dough, a team breaking up the candy bars, and another team placing the "toppings" on the "pizzas". It was fun for everyone, and folks came from all over the building to see what smelled so scrumptious! Hope y'all enjoy it as much as we did!

Candy Shop Pizza

1 & 1/2 tubes refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chunky or creamy peanut butter
1 cup coarsely chopped assorted candy bars: Nestle Crunch, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Goobers, Raisinets, and/or Buncha Crunch.

Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease large baking sheet or pizza pan. Place cookie dough onto prepared pan and spread out to edges of pizza pan. Bake for 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust; drop peanut butter by spoonfuls onto chips. Let stand for 5 minutes or until morsels are shiny. Gently spread chocolate and peanut butter (together) evenly over cookie crust. Sprinkle candy in single layer over pizza. Cut into wedges; serve warm or at room temperature.

Makes 12 servings.

(I used baking sheets, but I wished later that I had used pizza pans, just for the pizza "look". Also, when I was at the store, I bought a big bag of Halloween candy with the small sized bars of Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, and 100 Grand. I then added some bite-sized Reese's cups.)

Dear Participants,
Walk With Christ is an activity that will help bring the youth of our ward to a better understanding of Christ's last days on Earth. They will travel through seven different rooms each portraying a different event.
The final room is "Christ is Risen" where they will all be addressed together by the bishop about the Atonement.
Simple guidelines have been given as to what kind of decor you may want to put in your room. These are only guidelines and you may decorate as you wish,within the description of the scriptures given and as the Spirit may guide you.

The last supper and judgment of Christ certainly call for actors in the room (Pilate, one of the Twelve Apostles--someone who can tell what Christ did at this particular place). The Garden of Gethsemane would probably be best as a room without anyone in it so that the entire focus is on Christ's picture.

Also, a scripture should be given or posted in each room. The scriptures that pertain to each subject are listed.
Remember things like special lighting, (lamps and spots) as well as quiet music will add a lot to a setting.

The kids will come to each room in small groups. They will go to them in order so room Group 1 will finish first. We will probably have about six groups and each room should last for two to three minutes per group. Then the bishop will be able to take 15 to 20 minutes at the end to speak.

The Faith Walk

The Faith Walk

We decorated the Priesthood room. It was the reverent, temple-like room. We had flowers, greenery, pictures. We pulled the chairs down from the R.S. room to make it nicer.

We started in a classroom. We had pillows and blankets on the floor to make it more homey. We ate pizza. We had a short lesson on the Plan of Salvation. We played a number game while girls were being taken out one at a time. We had a couple of our advisers stay in with them until they were all gone.

Somebody (another adviser) took them down the hall to the YW room. We used the dividers to divide off the last third of the room. There was a beautiful lit Greg Olsen picture there. They would go into the actual walk from there.

There were obstacles all along the way - chairs and other things. They were blind-folded. There was a good voice encouraging them and there was a bad voice trying to discourage them. They talked about things that are a temptation to them. They were blind-folded all the way down to the Priesthood room where Liza Tolman and I greeted them quietly and warmly. Then they took the blind-fold off.

We had "The Testaments" playing while the girls came in one at a time. It took a little longer to get all the girls through than we thought and the movie finished (we started it about half way through) just a little before the last girl came in. In the mean time I sang "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" to them. Then I tried to follow the Spirit and say what came. We talked and the girls shared. The Spirit was SO strong! It makes me cry just thinking about it. The Bishop also had some comments and we left it open for testimonies but didn't get much response so we closed. Nobody wanted to leave when it was over because they just wanted to hang onto the feeling. We had a temple mint for them as they walked out and a little card on faith for their Treasure boxes that we're doing.

12 Days of Scripture

I came across this while going through some files…decided to share.

1. Christ is the Light
Read John 1:1-14 after lighting a candle. Show a picture of Christ behind the lighted candle. Discuss how He is the light of the world.
2. Christ is Love
Read John 13:34, 35. Christmas is the season of love. How can your family show love to each other and to your friends. Choose one way your family will show love to each other.
3. Christ Gave Great Service
Read Luke 7:22, 3 Nephi 17:9-10, Luke 7:11-16. From these scriptures how did Jesus render service? As a family, pick someone that you could give service to.
4. The Humility of Christ
Read Matthew 18:3, 4 & Mosiah 3:18-19. Christ exercised humility His entire life. To become like Him, we must become humble. Sing-Away in A Manger.
5. Christ, Our Example
Read 3 Nephi 27:27, John 13:15, 2 Nephi 31:16, Helaman 3:29. Since Christ was our great example, what one thing can we do this Christmas to be more like Christ?
6. Christ, the Worthy One
Read John 14:6, 2 Nephi 25:26. Discuss why Christ is so important to us, especially at Christmas time. Think of one gift of yourself you can give.
7. Christ, the Redeemer of Mankind
Read Mosiah 16:15, Alma 5:27. Read or tell the story of Lazarus from John 11:1-44. Christ came to heal the physical body as well as the spiritual.
8. Christ, is the Good Shepherd
Read 1 Nephi 22:25, Mosiah 26:21, Hebrews 13:20. Read or tell the story of the lost sheep (Luke 15:4-7) A good shepherd cares for all his sheep. How did Christ do this? How can the attitude of caring for others make your Christmas more special?
9. Christ Suffered for Us
Read D&C 19:15-19, Matt 26:31, Matt 27:1-50. Show pictures of Christ from the FHE manual on pgs 150-152. Express your feelings on how we can be free from our sins through repentance because of Christ's gift to us.
10. Christ is a Friend to All
Read 3 Nephi 17, 25. Christ especially loved the little children. He also spent His time with the poor, sick and meek. How can your family be better friends to those around you? Do something special for a neighbor.
11. Christ the Savior
Read 3 Nephi 1:9-14, D&C 122:5-9. Christ ministered to both continents while He was upon the earth. He is the Savior for all mankind. He can understand and help each one of our problems. We can communicate with Him through prayer. Reflect on your blessings of the past year. Sing Silent Night.

12. Christ, the Supreme Gift to All
Read Luke 2:1-7 Christ is the greatest gift ever given to mankind. How can we be more generous and charitable to others? Follow the Golden Rule - Do Unto others as you would have others do unto you...all year long.

trick or treating for canned goods

This could be done dressed up or not. Make it a scavenger hung (we had 3 teams). Have food on your list that could be used to make Thanksgiving baskets to be donated to needy families.

After gathering the canned goods, create Thanksgiving baskets and deliver to the Bishop for him to deliver to the needy families in your ward.

YW at the museum

We planned a Saturday activity with our YW at a museum. We sent one member of YW presidency to the museum where she bought numerous postcards depicting the different sculptures and art. Two weeks before the activity, we passed these cards out—one to each YW who would be participating. It was up to her to red up and research “her” piece of artwork. Then, on Saturday, we went to the museum and we toured, the YW recognized “her” artwork and gave the rest of us report on it.

Scavenger hunt at the public library

Take your young women to the public library for a scavenger hunt. Pair the girls up and turn them loose with a list of information to locate. They were allowed to ask the librarian one question. Some of the things they had to do were:

locate a book by its call number and write down the title and author
find a certain book by a certain author and read it aloud with their partner
find out how many books in the library contain a key word
list the dates and times for story time
list fines for overdue books
count how many different newspapers are available in the library
list 3 books written by a certain author, etc.

Each answer was certain amount of points. The tie breaker was extra points for those who had a library card of their own.

Service Auction

Preparation:
Have all the participating YW choose 2-3 services they will be willing to do for the buyer, and print the service with signature below on one side of a 3x5 card. On the reverse side, have them print their (full) name and phone number. They may embellish if the want to. Multiple numbers of the same service are fine, but only once per YW. (So, Lulu can do babysitting, and so can Katie.)
Have all participating YW choose 1-2 treats they can provide for the auction. (I.E. brownies, cookies, beverage mix, recipe in a jar.)
Make blank name cards out of stiff card and popsickle sticks for the RS sisters. They can put their names on it as they walk in.
(Optional, but very useful) Make a list of the services offered (I did it by catergory) and who is offering them. This way the RS sisters can decide what they want before hand and save their "Points" for the item they want most.
Create a questionnaire for the RS to fill out. (THis is how they get points to use as "Money")Include service-oriented questions, i.e. Made a meal for a sick friend-10pts. 2pts for each sister you visit-taught for the past month. 15 pts for carpooling to this activity. 15points if you visited the temple this month. Also include silly questions. 5 points if you brushed your teeth today, 5pts if you play a musical instrument, 10pts if you said "I Love you" today, etc. (Suggestion, bump down the points of non-service or church related activities)If you are few in numbers, it may be a good idea to double or even triple their total points for attending the activity.
Night Of:
Spread out the auction items on a table in the front of the room (cards and treats) for the RS to browse through before you start.
set out the cards and markers just outside the door so the RS sisters can write their names as they go in. Also hand them each a questionnaire to fill out while waiting to start.
When you are prepared to start, have an auctioneer and a "Vanna White" ready to start the auction. have "Vanna" hold up the card, describe the service and name the girl who is offering the service. (you can do the treats at the beginning or spread them out in between the cards) Start the bidding at 5 points (or more for the good ones,)Then it should just take off. You'd be surprised how badly some of those mothers want free babysitting!
Definitely encourage the girls to get to know the ladies who bought their services.
(Oh, and you should have someone keep track of who buys what, so the YW can contact their person)
I hope this makes sense. Feel free to rewrite it. And there are places online-that's where I got the idea-that tell you how to do it as well as ideas for the point questions and service ideas.

Decide on a goal, hours of service, scripture reading, etc. and have the girls earn parts of a dinner by completing the goal. A certain number of chapters equal your beverage or salad. More chapters equal your main course. Have participant earn each of their utensils and plates. At the end of the given time limit have a dinner at the church or leader’s home where everyone is rewarded with the fruits of their labors.

I apologize for not updating sooner...I have lots and lots of things to share. YW camp for me is next week...exactly 7 days--in just a few minutes it will be 6 days. As soon as I am back, I will reveal ALL that we did for camp....from daily devotionals to secret sister things.

Exploring Snow Party

Have young women dress as explorers. (Big Coats, hats, gloves,etc.).
Plan dinner in the snow. (Have them eat from cans, etc.)
Plan activities such as a treasure hunt. (Put things in snow and have clues.)
Talk about if you don't find it the first time, keep trying. Just like the gospel--don't give up, keep trying. You could have someone come and show them how to survive in the snow and have them build a bed, etc.

build your own dinner party

Each girl is asked to bring her favorite recipe, but the recipe is "un-built". She will put the recipe and ingredients in a sack. When everyone arrives, hand each girl a new sack (one they didn't bring).

Work together and prepare the recipe.

Serve dinner.

It's nice to have a firm set of rules in life.

Compare recipes and then exchange them.

Fishing

Hold a Roast for bad habits. Prior to the activity ask each girl to choose a bad habit they would like to get rid of and establish a plan to do it.

Give them about one month to work towards this goal.

On the activity night take a trip to the the canyon, build a big bonfire, and roast hot dogs. then hold a special ceremony--each girl takes a piece of paper on which she has written her bad habit and then throws it into the fire. Some of the girls may choose to share their experiences as they do so.

Christmas Combined Activity

Tell the youth ahead of time that you are going to put together treat plates to take to some members of the ward while Christmas caroling. However, you will arrange with the “treat recipients” to give some excuse why they don't want the youth there. Try to find people who can do this believably. They could say things like, "Sorry, not now… I'm really busy!" or “My kids are trying to sleep!” or “I really don’t have time for this” and then shut the door before the youth have a chance to respond.

Then go to another house where the youth will be expecting to have hot chocolate but when you get there you’ve arranged that they aren't home. The youth may be feeling very discouraged at this point, but before they have a chance to actually walk away you will open the garage (maybe arrange to get their garage door opener) and it is set up like a stable with a manger filled with hay.

Talk with the youth about how this is similar to where Mary and Joseph had to go when they were turned away everywhere else, and they were in much more dire circumstances. Teach whatever lesson you would like to about the first Christmas. Have hot chocolate and eat the treats you were supposed to pass out.

Have each YW interview someone they feel is a good example of integrity. Have an ‘integrity night’ and invite/tell about the person they interviewed and why they have integrity. Serve refreshments.
Have each YW study For the Strength of Youth booklet and have a game night with questions on what they learned.
Make candles and talk about the importance of being a light to those around us.
Talk about how what you say can reveal a lot about you. Learn to make lipgloss.
Talk about the characteristics in others that show integrity. Do something for others (care pkgs. for soldiers?) that show integrity and honor.

Make Valentine Treats for your family for the week before Valentines Day. (or any holiday will work) Heart Attack people in the ward that you appreciate.
Plan and have a birthday party for a child in the ward or a YW who may feel left out.
Hold a babysitting night for young families that want to attend the temple.
Serve the Church by cleaning up the building grounds.
Have a ‘service’ car wash for the bishopric.
Collect magazines for the hospital.
Make thank you cards and give them to family or ward members.
Make birthday cards for the prophet or apostles.
Visit the Care Center and get to know some of the people there.
Have a ‘random acts of kindness’ contest and see which group can accomplish the most in an hour.

Learn how to be smart with your money and how to budget. Go to D.I. or a grocery store and have a scavenger hunt with a certain amount of money ($1 each?) and a list. The team with the most money left after purchasing all items wins.
Have a modest fashion show for the Faith in God girls and talk about the importance of being modest. (all outfits would have to be approved ahead of time)
Have sister missionaries come and talk about serving missions and make care packages for the missionaries in the ward.
Learn to make popcorn (air popped, pan popped, caramel corn?) and learn the Parable of the Popcorn.
Make charts to keep track of your personal prayers & scripture study.

Learn how to do genealogy. Have the YW learn interesting facts about their ancestors and share them with everyone.

For our Stake YCL's (Youth Camp Leaders), we made them covered clip boards. We purchased our clip boards from Sam's Club and then, we covered them with paper, tied ribbons to cover the clip and then, mod podged them.

We presented the clipboards to them shortly after the buses dropped them off. We encouraged them to place all their schedules and important papers on this clip board.

Camp Pillow Cases

Decorate plain white pillow cases. Use markers, stencils and tole paint. Let the young women create their own camp pillow cases. I did one pillow case that a young women created--she had all the young women in her cabin sign her pillow. This is fun and is a great keepsake.

Just a reminder-bring pieces of cardboard to put in between the pillow cases so the ink won't bleed through.

Fleece Blankets

Directions:

Purchase 1 1/2 yards of fleece for each girl.

Cut the raw edges- (that's two sides-the other two are finished--I like to do all 4 sides) at approximately 1" intervals. ). I did not measure it--just cut.

Cut about 4" up into the fabric then just knot each 1" strip.

It looks like knotted fringe.

This is also great to teach "knot certification".

Prayer Rugs

Value Crystals

These are fun to create. The beads and the crystals were purchased from Walmart. All you need to do is thread the wire through the top of the crystal. Crimp the wire with a crimping bead. Thread value color beads on the wire and add a crimping bead at the top.

Homemade Lip Gloss

This is a lot of fun. You will probably need to make them before camp. This is a perfect handout when you are talking to the young women about the importance of lifting other up with the kind words that come out of their mouths.

Lip Gloss
Materials Needed:
Paraffin wax
Coconut oil
Petroleum jelly
Candy melts (to color the gloss and make it taste sweet)
Oil-based candy flavoring (if you want a special flavor)
Grater
Wax paper
Ziploc bag
Small container (recycle old makeup containers or 35mm film containers, or look in stores that carry beads, crafts, or fishing tackle)

Instructions:Grate some paraffin wax onto wax paper. Measure 1/4 teaspoon grated wax into the plastic bag. Add 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon petroleum jelly, and 1 candy melt. Add 1/8 teaspoon oil-based candy flavoring if you like.
Seal the bag and carefully put it in a bowl of hot tap water to melt ingredients, about 3-5 minutes.

"5 gallon" seat

Decorate a 5 gallon bucket (you can find orange ones at Home Depot). Put padding on one side of the lid. Cover with material. You can use the inside of it for storage such as camp books, song books, crafts, and/or snacks. Also, use it as a chair. This is perfect for inside of the cabins.

On Sunday, we (our Stake Young Women Presidency) had the privilege of teaching one of the wards in our stake. It was great!! We were visiting them for Ward Conference and I thought it was great to be asked to teach. In fact, I love to teach. It is one of those things that I really love to do. I know, call me crazy--I will admit, I am crazy! Anyway, our topic was Friendship & Unity. I was asked to teach the first part--basically, I introduced the topic. I handed out bags of ingredients. Each bag was labeled with the words: Friendship, Teamwork, Prayer, Unity, Commitment, and Service.

We started out with the bag Friendship--it had powdered sugar in it. We talked about the importance of Friendship, having friends and being a friend. Then, we added prayer (cocoa) and as we went down the list of ingredients, we talked about the importance of each word--adding the ingredients to the bag. When we arrived at the last ingredient, we talked about Teamwork--how we all work as a team. Then, we took turns squeezing the bag. As each girl squeezed the bag, the ingredients mixed together. At the end, we had Friendship Fudge.

Here is the recipe if you would like to try it on your own:

Friendship Fudge
Mix in a gallon ziplock bag:
4 cups powdered sugar
3 ounces of softened cream cheese
1/2 cup softened margarine
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 chopped nuts

Mix ingredients together by squeezing the bag and passing it around the group. When it is mixed together, roll into a log and slice and serve. (You may need extra powdered sugar or eat with spoons).

Colored paper
Toothpick
Card stock
Glue
Googly eyes
Clothes pins (2 per note holder)
Magnetic strip (optional)

Time needed: About 2 to 3 Hours

1. For each, start by cutting a few dozen 1/8-inch-wide strips of colored paper, each at least 4 inches long. Curl each strip tightly around a toothpick.

2. Next, cover a rounded, 3-inch card stock body with glue and attach the curls. Cut out a card stock face and ears, adding googly eyes and other facial features, and glue them all in place. Allow the glue to dry.

3. For the legs, which also serve as note holders, glue 2 clothespins to the back of the body. Stand the critter on a table or attach magnetic strips to the back and stick it to your fridge, then post your message in the clips.

# 10 brass fishing swivels
Seed beads
Small (6 mm) jingle bells
Time needed: Under 1 Hour

1. Unclasp a swivel and bend the prong to straighten it. Slide on a few seed beads, then slip the circular end of a second swivel over the end of the straightened prong.

2. Now bend the prong back to its curved shape, slide on a bell and close the clasp.

3. Unclasp the second swivel and repeat the previous steps until the bracelet is the desired length.

4. Leave the last swivel clasp free of beads and bells, and use this link to put on and take off the bracelet.

Teach the young women the importance of waterproofing matches. Drop food coloring (the colors of the young women values) into wax. Then, dunk matches into colored wax.

One of the wards in our Stake presented each of our Stake Young Leaders with a "Believe Jar". Inside the jar, on the different colors of paper are testimonies of the young women, young women leaders, and priesthood leaders. This jar is designed for the purpose of leaning on someone else's testimony while the person reading the slip of paper is struggling with their own testimony.

This is similiar to the journal jars and gratitude jars.

The jars were purchased at Roberts Craft. Vinyl lettering and/or stickers are placed on the outside of the jar.

These are made out of two empty toliet paper rolls. Then, covered with scrapbook paper and glued together. A piece of twine attaches the card to binoculars.

The card reads:

I purchased the tiles at Home Depot (you can get them from Lowe's too). Stickers and Acrylic Sealer were purchased from Roberts.

Put the stickers on the tile. Then, cover the center of the tile (where you would want to write) with paper and then, spray the acrylic sealer over the tile. It will take a little while to dry. The only difficult thing was keeping the dirt off of the tile until it is completely dried.

Mail box holder

This year we are making pillows for the girls to keep on their beds for the same purpose. We thought about making them into a wall hanging, but there is no place to hang them in the cabins.

Flower, leaves and bow were cut our of wood. The stem is a dowl. A block of wood with a whole in it is inside the terracotta pot. These are fun to paint and decorate.

These were a lot of fun to make. Canvas bags were purchased at Walmart. The accessories were purchased at Walmart, Roberts, and Michaels. This was a lot of fun to see the girls personalities come out while decorating their bags. We used tacky glue to glue on these accessories.

This was our craft for the YCL's in our Stake. It was a lot of fun and easy too. (Even our Stake President made one). There are lots of different sizes and styles of tin cans found at Michael's & Roberts. I chose this particular size--it fits homemade cards. You will need scrapbook paper and any other accessories to decorate the can and mod podge to seal it.

items needed:

two pieces of glass, items to be put inside the glass (such as: dried flowers, stickers, vinyl lettering, etc...), frame, paint & paint brushes

Paint your frame

After paint is dry, lay the first piece of glass inside the frame

On the second piece of glass, add the dried flowers and the lettering.

Then, set the 2nd piece of glass on top of the 1st piece of glass. Note: the flowers and lettering are now inside both pieces of glass.

Close the brackets on the back of the frame.

Mod Podge Blocks

Mod Podge Wooden Blocks

items needed:

4- 3 x 3 wooden blocks (if you go to Home Depot, you can purchase a fence post and they will cut your blocks for you); 20- 3x3 pictures, the letters: l-o-v-e, mod podge, sponge brushes, 4- 3x3 pieces of scrapbook paper.

Sponge the modge podge on the 5 sides of the blocks, place the pictures on 5 of the sides.

Let dry. (usually only takes about 5 or so minutes)

Then, mod podge the 6th side and place scrapbook paper over the top of that side. Let dry.

Mod Podge over the 5 sides. Let dry.

Mod Podge the 6th side, attach each letter on each block and mod podge over the top of the letters. Let dry.

I like to add one more layer of mod podge on all sides again.

A great service project--have them crochet or knit the hot pads

and then donate them to the various organizations.

items needed: Printed ribbon 4 x Beads Scissors

Cut your ribbon to the desired length. Tie a knot about 1 1/2 inches from the bottom (this creates the tail). Thread ribbon through beads. Then, tie another knot.

Bucket of Pens

directions:

items needed: flowers, pens, green floral tape, can, beans

Cut your flower stem--leaving about 2 inches of stem. Take your pen and remove the top off the pen. Using the florist tape we are going to bind the pen. Florist tape sticks to itself when stretched so as you roll the pen you need to pull the tape tight as you wind, make sure you do not leave any gaps or the pen will show through. You can unwind this and try it again until you get it nice and flat. It's a little tricky but easy when you know how so have a few goes until you are happy with the result. When you are near the top, place the stem of the flower next the pen and finish binding the pen. If you have leafs you can ad them as you are binding.
